About the product

A Konkani canvas print of Goa’s best-loved toast, in clean white type on deep matte black. Soro Jivak Boro — “alcohol is good for health” — framed for the wall above your bar cart.

Every Goan knows the toast before they know the words. Soro jivak boro — literally “alcohol is good for health” — is Konkani’s most cheerfully unscientific piece of wisdom, the kind of line passed around a table over a glass of feni with a grin and a shrug of susegad.

It isn’t a punchline someone invented for a t-shirt. It’s a real saying, delivered with a completely straight face, usually by an uncle who has already had two.

This 20" × 20" stretched canvas sets the saying in bold, minimalist typography. It reads less like a poster and more like a quiet declaration — a toast you can hang up. The shadowed edges of the 1.25" pine frame give it real depth, while the matte finish keeps all eyes on the message.

Where it belongs
A kitchen wall, above a bar cart, or in a cosy dining nook — anywhere a room could use a little rustic Goan charm with modern restraint. A memorable housewarming present, or a slice of home for the Goan diaspora far from the sea.

A few questions, answered

What does “Soro Jivak Boro” mean?
It’s Konkani for “alcohol is good for health” — a tongue-in-cheek Goan toast and a well-loved bit of drinking humour. Not medical advice, just good fun.

Who is it for?

Goans and the Goan diaspora, feni drinkers, and anyone who appreciates a joke that needs no explaining at a Goan party. A reliable gift for the friend who proposes every toast.

What is Konkani?

Konkani is the official language of Goa, on India’s west coast, spoken by Goans and Mangaloreans all over the world. Every KBTQ design carries a little of it — because a language lives when people use it, wear it, and laugh in it.
