A Konkani wedding t-shirt for the dheddo — the groomsman. Made to be worn at the roce, and made to be ruined there.
The roce is the Goan Catholic ceremony held a day or two before the wedding, taking its name from the Konkani ros, meaning juice. Family and friends anoint the couple with freshly squeezed coconut milk and oil — a blessing, and the formal end of bachelorhood and spinsterhood.
The bride sits with her bridesmaids, the groom with his groomsmen, and the whole thing turns gloriously messy. Modern roce parties add eggs, beer and whatever else the cousins have smuggled in. Nobody leaves clean.

A few questions, answered
What does “Dheddo” mean?
Dheddo is Konkani for the groomsman — the friend standing beside the groom through the roce, the wedding, and everything that happens after.
What is a roce?
A Goan Catholic pre-wedding ceremony held a day or two before the wedding, where the couple and their party are anointed with coconut milk and oil as a blessing. It’s the Konkani equivalent of a haldi — and a great deal messier.
Who is it for?
Groomsmen, the groom’s party, and anyone assembling matching outfits for a Goan wedding. A good small gift when you ask someone to stand for you.
What is Konkani?
Konkani is the official language of Goa, on India’s west coast, spoken by Goans and Mangaloreans all over the world. Every KBTQ design carries a little of it — because a language lives when people use it, wear it, and laugh in it.
