About the product

A retro Konkani music t-shirt saluting Ye Ye Katrina, the 1971 duet that every Konkani household knows by heart. Boombox included.

In 1971, Henry D’Souza and Helen D’Cruz recorded a playful Konkani love duet called Ye Ye Katrina — “Come, come Katrina.” It became a phenomenon. All India Radio played it daily for over four years by public demand, Radio Ceylon put it on heavy rotation, and the record travelled with Konkani families to the Gulf, to Africa, and everywhere else they went.

More than fifty years on, it still gets played at weddings and roce ceremonies, and somebody’s aunt still knows every word. This design gives that old banger the loud, retro, boombox-carrying tribute it always deserved.

For the ones who know the words
Wear it to a wedding, a Konkani night, or a family party and watch the older generation light up. A gift for music lovers, nostalgic uncles, and anyone whose childhood had this song playing somewhere in the background.

A few questions, answered

What is “Ye Ye Katrina”?
A much-loved Konkani duet from 1971 by Henry D’Souza and Helen D’Cruz, meaning “Come, come Katrina.” It was played daily on All India Radio for years and is still a fixture at Konkani weddings and roce celebrations.

Is this a Goan or a Mangalorean song?

Both, happily. Konkani belongs to Goans and Mangaloreans alike, and this song is shared property — sung, danced to and shouted along with wherever Konkani speakers gather.

Who is it for?

Konkani music lovers, anyone who grew up with this song on the radio, and the diaspora parent who will absolutely start singing when they see it.

What is Konkani?

Konkani is the official language of Goa, on India’s west coast, spoken by Goans and Mangaloreans all over the world. Every KBTQ design carries a little of it — because a language lives when people use it, wear it, and laugh in it.
